Hello Everyone! I just completed my second class in the Ed Tech Program! Yeah!!! Here are reflections from my web conferences. Enjoy!
Web Conference
Reflections
June 4, 2012
This is only my second class in the Ed Tech program and
after my last class I realized that in order for me to fully grasp the
assignments I have to attend the web conferences. I attended my first video web conference for
EDLD 5363 on June 4, 2012 and I am glad I did.
Dr. Abernathy is a hands-on instructor with genuine concern for her
students’ success.
The conference was very helpful because Dr. Abernathy
provided clarity on the first assignment’s posted on EPIC. The assignments in the ET 8041 portal were
incorrect, so Dr. Abernathy made sure we had the correct assignments. She also informed us who the Instructional
Assistants (IAs) were for each section. In addition to “housekeeping” tips, the
class shared information about different video editing software we could use
for the first assignments.
Dr. Abernathy
is very personable. She is really
passionate about her students and willing to help us. I am really going to enjoy this class!

During today’s conference Dr. Abernathy provided clarity
about this week’s assignment. This week
we have to create a podcast or a video podcast.
My IA told me I could not use Audacity to create the Podcast which left
me confused. I thought a podcast was an
audio file (ie. radio commercial), therefore when my IA told me I couldn’t use
Audacity, I questioned her understanding of the assignment!
Dr. Abernathy instructed us that we have an option to create
a podcast (audio) or a video podcast.
She reviewed the specifics of the assignment and we also discussed
different software we could use to execute the project.
I really enjoy attending the web conferences because it gives me an
opportunity to interact with my classmates and Dr. Abernathy. It also allows an exchange of information to
take place.

Today’s web conference was great! As usual Dr. Abernathy asked us if we had any
concerns, problems or questions. She was
as willing to provide assistance as always!
Everyone talked about the progress on the final project. Dr. Abernathy answered questions and
addressed concerns.
In addition to talking about the
group project, Dr. Abernathy shared with us the requirements for
graduation. I was excited to learn that
Lamar will be offering The Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) course as
a program requirement to meet the state’s requirement and to also help the
students. I also learned that I don’t have
to take additional courses to take the exam to become a Certified
Principal. The conference was
informative and enjoyable. I really
enjoyed this course!
